TECHNICAL INFORMATION
The Mikania glomerata,
popularly known as guaco is original of South America, being found
in Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay and in Brazil, especially in the
South areas and Southeast. The plant develops as a creeper and it is
born in the forests and in the meadow, adapting very well to the
domestic cultivation. Its dry leafs presents strong balsamic scent.
The guaco presents in your
composition tannins, saponines, resins, cumarins, guacosideo,
guacina (substance makes bitter) and essential oil (contains di and
sesquiterpens). This group of compositions gives the plant
expectorant action, bronchus dilator action, anti asthmatic, anti
cough, febrifuge, diuretic, tonic, emollient, depurative and
healing. The guaco facilitates the fluidifying of the exudate
trachea bronchi so that it can be more easily expelled by the reflex
of the cough. It acts relaxing the flat musculature of the aerial
roads, mainly bronchi and make appreciable sudorific effect, wanted
in the feverish cases.
Uniflora produces the guaco
extract used. Many analyses are made in our own laboratories,
properly equipped, to guarantee the obtaining of a product with high
quality.
The propolis is a
resinous and balsamic substance, it has some coloration and several
consistencies, varying to brown color to dark green. It is produced
by the bees from leave sprouts and resinous exudates of plants, and
used inside the beehive " to fix " honey-comb, to lacquer the
alveoli, to close breaches for the reduction of cold wind entrance,
and, mainly, to protect of the natural enemies: fungus and bacteria.
It is also be used to embalm small animals killed by the bees inside
the beehive, which could not be getting out, avoiding in this way
their putrefaction.
The chemical composition of
the propolis depends on the botanical ecology of each area and by
the bee race, but generally, it is compose of 50% of resin and balm,
30% of wax, 10% of essential and aromatic oils, 5% of pollen and 5%
of several other substances. Until the moment they were already more
than 200 chemical compounds identified in the propolis, like the
flavonoids, aromatic acids, terpenoids, aldehydes, alcohols,
aliphatic acid and esters, amino acids, steroids, sugar, etc. The
intense studies on propolis reveal that these compounds are for its
several physiologic actions: anti-microbe (it works as a natural
antibiotic), anti-inflammatory, healing, anesthetic and antioxidant
(it combats the free radicals).
The quality of the propolis
extract is controlled through the following parameters: dosage of
flavonoids contents (through analysis in spectrophotometer), Brix
degree, dry residue percentage, alcoholic graduation and density.
Our microbiology laboratory has a standard methodology to test the
anti microbes activity of the used propolis, with the objective to
control and to check the antibiotic power of the final product.
The honey is
produced by bees from the nectar of the flowers. It is a rich food,
which presents in its composition simple sugars with fast
assimilation on the organism, mineral salts (potassium, sodium,
calcium, phosphorus, iron, manganese, etc.), amino acids, enzymes
and vitamins. It presents the following properties: expectorant,
fluidifying, healing and antiseptic.
The honey used in Uniflora
becomes by suppliers approved with constant accompaniment of yours
productions. All the lots when then receive in the company are
analyzed strictly, not only with reference to the purity, but also
